Biography

Jan Willem Rozenboom

Jan - Willem Rozenboom

Jan-Willem Rozenboom (born 1974) graduated with honors from the Brabant Conservatory in 2000, but he truly became a "big boy" during his master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. "For three years, I was drilled by my teacher Rian de Waal," says Rozenboom. "The emphasis was mainly on Bach and Beethoven. He taught me what studying is all about."

He learned how to thoroughly lay the foundation for a major work, how to gain complete control over it, and then how to completely let go. During those years, he also learned how to create tension, hold the audience's attention, and find the right cadence.

The CD of the Goldberg Variations, which Rozenboom released in the 2014/2015 season, was very well received. He toured the Netherlands with this program for a season. He then devoted himself to Schubert for a year and a half, resulting in the double album "Jan-Willem Rozenboom plays Schubert."

His solo album, "Jan-Willem Rozenboom plays Bach – Seven Transcriptions," released last year, was critically acclaimed by both the public and the press. The CD received four stars from de Volkskrant.

In May 2023, he made his debut in the Piano Nights series at the Main Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Besides being a classical pianist, Jan-Willem Rozenboom is also a pianist and composer for Guus Meeuwis.
